Julia Doern is integral to the design, management, and realization of many of the firm’s large-scale projects for cultural and educational institutions. Specializing in complex urban projects involving existing buildings, she is currently serving as Project Manger for the Irish Arts Center, a new 25,000 sf cultural center for a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the image of Ireland and Irish America through performance, exhibition and education. Nearing completion north of Hudson Yards in western Manhattan, the center will include a 200-seat performing arts theater, dance and music rehearsal studios, classrooms, exhibit spaces, café and support spaces. Previously Ms. Doern led the renovation of CUNY Baruch College’s Lawrence and Eris Field Building at 17 Lex, which involved the sensitive orchestration of extensive design and infrastructure upgrades for a 16-story, 285,000 sf pre-war academic building, to house laboratories, lecture halls, and classrooms. Her work demonstrates her passion for developing design, technological, and management solutions that meet the specific needs of users, the practicalities of the project, and the vision of the institution.
