Chris Grabé’s diverse portfolio ranges from industrial to cultural and civic to academic. The success of this work has been recognized by the many AIA national, regional and local awards it has received. His work is based on a continuous exploration of the themes of transparency, natural light, an expression of structure, clarity of organization, and an honest exhibition of program elements and building components. His projects elevate and enrich the lives of the users and the public via the creative and social connections established within and connections with their natural or urban sites.

Chris has been involved in many of the firm’s large-scale institutional and corporate buildings, specializing in projects with complex technical and programmatic demands, including a major data center for the US Bureau of the Census and Valeo Electrical Systems and technical facilities for Valeo and Gillette in Mexico which were designed and built in one year. He also directs much of the firm’s work for the Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Building Operations which involves renovations and upgrades to embassies in Europe, Scandinavia and the Middle East.
